Welcome

Welcome to Sarahs-Baubles.com, this is the space on my site where I'm supposed to tell how wonderful I am (I'm ok), and how many degrees I have (I don't). I've just always loved glass. There's something about the look, the feel, the quality of glass that's like nothing else.

At 16, I made full-sized stained glass windows; then for several years life took over. Five years ago I bought a $25 glass bead for a necklace I was making. When I held it in my hand, I knew that I need to learn to make beads.

The process:
I craft beads using hand tools and gravity, melting glass at 1200-degrees until it's flowing with the consistency of honey, shaping it, adding colours, and decorative details. When it's just right, I let the bead harden in the cooler part of the flame and anneal in a kiln for about 6 to 7 hours to remove stress from the glass.

If you would like to see examples of my work, please visit the gallery. Please contact me if you like a custom bead.

Thanks for coming by.
